DEAF, the Dutch Electronic Art Festival, is a biennial international and interdisciplinary festival organized by V2_ in Rotterdam (NL) which showcases crossovers between art, technology and society.

whisper prototypes will be shown as part of Future Physical in the UK in April 2003. Whisper will be a participatory installation that uses small, custom-designed wearable computers and handheld devices. Focusing on body architecture, Whisper aims to unearth physical data patterns of the body, mapping that data onto linked and networked devices worn on or close to the skin, such as earrings.

New Forms Festival 2003

Thecla Schiphorst and Susan kozel made a whisper presentation at New forms Festival 2003 conference.

The theme of the 4-day festival was inter[sec/ac]tion: art intersecting across mediums and disciplines and interacting through discourse between artists, academics, students and the community at large, highlighting art that is interactive in nature. The event was held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at the Round House Community Centre, the Vancouver Public Library and the New Forms Media Centre.

e-culture conference: Investing in Innovation. whisper presented for the My-Mode project presentations. Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

My-Mode shows how research into physical functions, materials, fashion, technologies and human behaviour may well lead to surprisingly new ways of communication, interaction and expression. What goes on inside and around the body can be externally visualised: clothes that not only record, monitor and regulate physical functions, but also map information from the outside world.
